Training Course
Offshore Drilling Rig Equipment Inspection
An intensive, five-day course with a hands-on approach, covering drilling equipment inspection practices, well control equipment, and offshore rig systems -with daily review sessions to reinforce content covered.
Course Objective
This intensive, five-day Drilling Rig Equipment Inspection Course is designed to equip inspectors, engineers, and rig personnel with the advanced knowledge and practical skills necessary to ensure the integrity and safe operation of drilling assets.
Participants will master the application of industry standards and regulatory requirements to conduct thorough inspections, identify critical defects, and verify equipment condition. The ultimate goal is to significantly enhance onsite safety, prevent costly downtime, and help eliminate accidents, through robust maintenance and inspection protocols.
Key Learning Outcomes
This course equips participants with the practical knowledge and technical insight required to effectively inspect and evaluate offshore drilling rig equipment. Upon completion, participants will be able to:
- Apply relevant API standards, industry best practices, and regulatory requirements with confidence
- Recognise common and high-risk deficiencies across major rig equipment systems
- Understand how critical drilling equipment functions to better assess condition and performance
- Learn from real industry case studies of failures, deficiencies, and best practice solutions
- Provide practical, actionable recommendations for improved safety performance, asset reliability, and maintenance culture
Course Methodology
Delivered through an interactive, instructor-led training format, the course promotes active learning. The course is built around group discussions, collaborative problem-solving, and analysis of real-world examples from our proprietary technical database.
The training includes a combination of presentation materials and hands-on interactions focused on building required knowledge, situational awareness, and technical competence. Each day concludes with a review of the content covered.
Course Inclusions
- Real-world case studies: curated library of photographs demonstrating standard and deficient equipment conditions
- Interactive "What Do You See?" defect spotting sessions to hone observational and analytical skills
